Welcome Message

Greetings from 2015 Asian Film Policy Forum

First and foremost, I would like to offer my heartily welcome to the respected Asian film policymakers and professionals.

Under the phrase of "One Asia in Film", Asian Film Policy Forum has strived to achieve the co-development of Asian film industry since 2008, holding in-depth discussions on various film-related topics. As the world spotlights on Asian film industry especially in the recent years, I believe it is finally time for us – through the co-promotion of Asian cinema - to take more proactive actions to eliminate a wide disparity among the film industries of Asian countries.

Founded in 1997, European Film Promotion (EFP) is the only existing international network of the organizations promoting and marketing European cinema. EFP's network comprises the professional organizations from 35 European countries that specialize in promoting and marketing their own national cinema and film talents. In order for Asian film industry to advance to the next level, I would like to suggest that we take a close look at EFP as our reference model in establishing the Asian version of EFP – Asian Film Promotion (AFP).

Once AFP is launched, we can expect not only to facilitate the worldwide distribution of Asian films, but also to nurture young Asian film talents through the organization of an Asian film-production fund. With this blueprint, I envision the bright future of Asian film industry in where the new generations of film professionals band together for co-productions, regardless of one's nationality. And this would be what we can joyfully define as the idealistic co-development of Asian film industry.

Therefore, "United Power of Asia" is selected as the theme of 2015 Asian Film Policy Forum. It would be challenging to create immediate results, but I look forward to explore many constructive possibilities along with your wisdom and experience, through this invaluable opportunity of having Asian film policymakers and professionals at one venue.

The staff members of Busan Film Commission have put their best effort to greet our honorable invitees in a proper fashion. We would like to send our warmest regards by quoting the slogan of "ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator" (FLY) Project, an educational program that has been co-hosted by Busan Film Commission and Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) since 2012.

We are Certain, We FLY!

Thank you for your participation and support.
